MY STORY

A career built through doing.

From painting and repair work to leading housing organizations and building a connected group of companies, Alvin's perspective has been shaped by experience on the ground.

The experience begins with the work—and grows through the people you learn from, the responsibilities you carry, and the opportunities you create.

Early work in painting and repairs introduced Alvin to the details that determine whether a property works for the people who live there. His mortgage banking experience includes Wholesale Lending Exchange in the 1990s, followed by leadership at ADJ Mortgage LLC. His career expanded into community housing and executive leadership across a large multifamily portfolio.

Alvin has served as President of Hope Housing Foundation since 2011. The foundation, established in 1998, holds the current apartment ownership portfolio. During his tenure, its general partner (GP) roles have encompassed Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties totaling nearly 3,000 apartments, including the current ownership portfolio. This work has included acquiring GP positions or purchasing properties during their extended use periods, and bringing highly distressed apartment communities back to life for the people they serve.

Through AHJ Development, Alvin's work also includes residential land development. At Delano Estates in Greenville, Texas, he was the land developer who sold lots to LGI Homes. He served as General Partner of E. D. Delano Estates, Ltd.

His work also spans ownership, rehabilitation, and construction management. Empowered Services of Texas is an important part of this hands-on work, combining general contracting and renovation with in-house cabinet manufacturing. Alvin's responsibilities have connected organization-wide decisions with estimating costs, coordinating construction, and advancing completed homes toward occupancy. His work also includes multifamily property management through Assertive Management Group.

Teaching became another way to put that experience to work. Through Multifamily Monopoly, Alvin led coaching and training sessions in multifamily real estate. His work as an author and TEDx speaker extends that conversation to housing, entrepreneurship, and opportunity. The next chapter brings these lessons together through Springboard RA and the development of Enhanced Modular Manufacturing.
